It was formed in 1902 from the merging of three companies: Altos Hornos de Bilbao, La Vizcaya and La Iberia. Its registered office is located in Baracaldo. The company is one of the major forces responsible for the economic development of many of the municipalities of Vizcaya, including Barakaldo, Sestao, Portugalete, Ortuella, and Abanto y Ciérvana.
